Keawakapu Beach

  • Maui area—South Maui
  • Drive time from the condo—About 20 minutes.
  • Age appropriateness—All
  • Activity duration— Couple of hours at the beach—don’t get sunburn!!!
  • Directions—Take Hwy 30 toward Wailuku for short distance until you come to the signal light for Hwy 310, and then go toward Kiehi and Wailea.  Turn right on Hwy 31 (Piilani Hwy) toward Wailea.  Go past the third signal light which is Lipoa St.  Go past the fifth light which is Alanui Ke Alii, and then turn right on the next street which is Keonukai Rd and go down the ocean.  Turn left on South Kihei Rd and go to the very end.  As the main road starts to curve to the left and widens, veer slightly to right staying on the road marked with a dead end sign.  Park on the road or in the lot at the end.  (If you come to Wailea Alanui Drive then you have gone too far.)

  • What to bring— Sunblock, cap/hat, towels, beach chairs, cooler with water and food.  Wear bathing clothes.
  • Summary description—Beautiful beach and spacious cove.  Remarkably few people even though it is near many smaller, tourist-filled beaches.
  • Detailed description— This wonderful long beach has rock outcroppings at each end, and to the north there is another segment of the beach that ends at the Mana Kai Maui condos.  The next beach to the south is Mokapu Beach Park.  Showers and toilets. Snorkeling and boogie boarding.
